7. Is renal biopsy necessary for patients to be diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy?
Under normal circumstance, for skilled physician, they can make diagnosis from patients’ physical signs and other test reports. To make a definite diagnosis, renal biopsy is indeed necessary. But if the disorder can be ensured from clinical tests and symptoms, renal biopsy is not needed, after all it is invasive and has many side effect. If you do not want to do it, you can do some other professional tests to help diagnose the disease, for example, localization diagnosis of renal structure and function, cell biology localization diagnosis on cells and cell subset, biochemistry localization diagnosis on toxin concentration in blood and cells, etc.
