Can FSGS Be Cured

Can FSGS be cured? I am sure all the FSGS patients are interested in the answer, as it is closely related with their life expectancy. Although I’d like to give the answer”yes, FSGS can be cured”, I can not, as there is no cure for FSGS as of now. However, please do not be negative and lose your heart because of this, as there is method that can improve kidney function and guarantee a better life for FSGS patients.

Why FSGS can not be cured?

FSGS is an illness in which glomeruli in renal cortex are injured for some reason. A kidney is composed of about one million nephron which contains glomerulus, renal tubule and renal capsule. There are so many glomeruli in a kidney, so only a small part of them are damaged, no discomforts appear. This is the reason why FSGS in early stage is not easy to be found.

In general, when patients realize their is something wrong with their kidney, illness has developed to a very severe stage. In such a condition, there are healthy, injured and necrotic tissues in kidney. For healthy kidney tissues, they have to work more hardly to try to maintain a normal condition. For necrotic kidney tissues, they are dead and have lost all their working ability. As of now there is no such a medicine that can help to revive dead kidney tissues, but for some injured kidney intrinsic cells, they can be repaired successfully.

How to improve kidney function and live a better life with FSGS?

As we have mentioned above, necrotic kidney tissues can not be revived, so there is no cure for FSGS. However, as some injured kidney tissues can be repaired, so some kidney function can be repgained again. Kidney works through a group of kidney tissues, so when injured kidney tissues are repaired to be able to work again, kidney function gets improved.

For FSGS patients, their life expectancy is affected seriously as impaired kidney can not excrete wastes in the blood which can cause damages on other internal organs. Therefore, when kidney function is improved, their risk for severe complications is reduced greatly. Besides, for patients with early stage FSGS, they can live as long as healthy people after a systematic treatment.
